OSRS Attack Guide

OSRS Attack Guide

Many players around OSRS aren’t yet familiar with the mechanics of training their Attack. It’s not just about increasing the damage per hit through high-tier weapons. There’s a deeper meaning to the skill and how it works. Fortunately, we have created this guide for you to better understand how Attack works.

What is Attack?

You may already be aware of the fact that you need a specific attack level to use certain weapons. For instance, steel weapons can be used at level 10, mithril at level 20, and so on. The higher your weapon’s tier is, the better damage you’ll do to your enemies.

The doesn’t really boost your max hit, but rather boosts your hit accuracy. You may have noticed while battling enemies that there’s a blue splash that pops out with a 0 written in the middle. Well, that’s precisely what Attack improves. The chances of 0 splashing in the middle decrease as you level higher.

Walkthrough

You need to ensure that you’re always using the accurate attack style because that’s what gives you the best XP rates. There are a few things you need to consider before starting out. For instance, you need to use the highest-level weapon. Scimitars deal more damage than regular swords, and they’re even quicker. Besides that, you’ll need to equip an Amulet of Power for bonuses and have plenty of food in your inventory.

Level 1 to 20

You can start out by killing Goblins or Cows at Lumbridge. It’s the most common training method for beginners as it’s close to where you start your adventure after the tutorial island. They have low defense so it’ll be easy to kill them.

If you’re bored after a few levels, you can switch to the Monks located west of Edgeville. They are as weak as Cows and Goblins, and they can even heal themselves, making them very effective to train on. You’ll be continuing here until the level 20 attack.

Level 20 to 40

From levels 20 to 30, there are two options to choose from. If you like staying around Lumbridge, you can kill Giant Frogs in the swamp. They’re quite easy to defeat but you’ll have to run around a bit because they’re spread across the area.

The second option is to head over to the Barbarian Village which is west of Varrock. It’s a multi-combat area so you can even steal other players’ kills. While you’re there, you can even complete a Stronghold of Security run for 10,000 Old School Runescape Gold and Combat Boots.

Level 40 to 60

At level 40, make your way to the Edgeville Dungeon and start killing Hill Giants. You’ll see many players here because it’s a popular area to make money as well as train. Any player under level 57 combat will be auto-attacked by the Hill Giants.

If your Strength and Defense aren’t on par with your Attack, then we recommend killing Flesh Crawlers or Zombies on the 2nd floor of the Stronghold of Security. It’s a good AFK-ISH approach too!

Level 60+

From level 60 onwards, you’ll have a number of options to train. These options will depend on your preferences like playstyle, objective, and levels. If you’re looking for loot while boosting your defense, then a good suggestion would be to kill Ogress Warriors at the Corsair Cove Dungeon, located south of Yanille.

Why? Well, they often drop worthy items ranging from Mithril Helms to Gems, Farming Seeds, Big Bones, etc. You can either keep a second OSRS Account close by to bank the items for you, or simply use the high-alchemy spell to turn them into Runescape Gold right there and then.

If earning loot isn’t your concern, then get your Prayer to about level 43 and head over to the Great Demons located within the Demonic Ruins (Wilderness). We suggest you equip an Amulet of Power, a Rune Scimitar, and Monk Robes. Make sure to look out for Player Killers.

If you want better XP rates per hour, the Giant Spider at the Stronghold of Security is a great choice. You’ll want to make sure that you have a good Defense, alongside Prayer to hold yourself together.

New DLC Announced for Trion’s MMORPG Defiance to Launch in December

New DLC Announced for Trion’s MMORPG Defiance to Launch in December

Trion has already launched the Castithan Downloadable content pack (or DLC for short), back in August (2013) for their latest MMORPG shooter game Defiance. The Castithan DLC pack included a ton of new side missions, new story missions for the Castithan race, the combat Arena, a new four player vehicle, and as the DLC pack suggests you also get the option to create a Castithan playable character.

The new update also included a large variety of new charged weapons such as the lightsaber style swords, shotguns, sniper rifles and pistols. The charged weapons work similar to the charged plasma pistol from the popular video game Halo, so that players can do a bit more damage with their weapons by holding down the fire button to charge up attacks.

Defiance has gone through a lot of changes over the past several months as the developers updated how items drop and how stats stack with higher ego level weapons to help make the game a bit more fun and balanced. So far, I really like where the game is going with its updates. There is still a minor problem with the new quick chat function, but hopefully they will change it back to the way the old one worked so that you can communicate with your teammates without leaving the action, but other than that they have fixed majority of the flaws that the game had during launch.

The official Defiance website has announced that the new DLC pack “Arkbreaker” is planned to launch on December 10 to add more content to the game, such as the ability to call down Arkfalls to explore inside them, which sounds a lot like raid missions to me. They will also be adding Cold fire weapons, new monsters, and new abilities. The development team has also announced that they will be opening up the main campaign missions for cooperative play so that you can now play them with up to four players instead of them being locked to single player. All of the Arkbreaker content can be found on the Official Defiance Arkbreaker blog pos t.

The Castithan DLC pack is priced at $9.99 USD, and although the new DLC isn’t out yet I think that it is safe to guess that the second DLC pack will be listed around the same price. If you buy the season pass you can get all five DLC packs for a cheaper price.

If you would like to read more about the DLC packs and all of their content, please visit Trion worlds and Defiance official website.

World Of Warcraft Dungeons: A How to Guide

World Of Warcraft Dungeons: A How to Guide

In the game World of Warcraft, one of the most challenging part of the game is working together to complete a dungeon. I will teach you what the group is made up of, and how you can work together to beat it.

An essential part of the group is the tank. The tank is usually a warrior, paladin, druid in bear form that absorbs all the damage taken by the monster. The job of the tank is to create “threat” so the monster focuses and continuously attacks the tank. The tank must have high armor and surplus amount of health and defense in order to be great.

The other essential part of the group is the healer. The healer, usually a holy spec paladin, resto druid, resto shaman, priest, will heal the tank as he takes damage. Note that they will also heal the DPS if they run low on health. Their job is to keep the group alive. They should be stacked up on mana and +healing items.

The rest of the classes are what we call DPS. They deal the damage to the monsters that the tank is creating threat from. They should be either stacked up on AP (attack power) if they’re melee DPS, and spell damage if they’re a spell caster DPS.

The basic skeleton of the group is what I have described above. Certain class healers are better for certain instances, and certain class of tank is better for a specific instance, so research what’s best for the group. Also note that there are several different types of DPS. It’s good to have at least 1 melee DPS, 1 Crowd Control DPS, and a spell caster. This is not always the case, but it’s generally good to have this. Like I said above, certain classes are a must for certain instances. You can look up instance guides on websites such as wowwiki.

Before every boss fight, at least one experienced member of the group should explain what special powers and attacks the boss will use, and how the fight will go. You should than plan what each person will do. Make sure everyone in the group knows what they’re doing before the fight starts. If you start the fight without members knowing what to expect, it will 99% of the time result in a wipe, and you’ll have to start all over again with the boss. Make sure you bring lots of food and water in your bag if you don’t have a mage. Having almost 100% armor is essential in groups as well as potions for the boss fights. Work together as a group; that’s what will help you beat the instance.

World of Warcraft: Leveling a Paladin

World of Warcraft: Leveling a Paladin

Being somewhat of a veteran in the world of Azeroth — having played all classes extensively — I can tell you right now that, in my opinion, paladins are by far the most versatile and enjoyable class to play. Not only are you a welcome addition to any instance group, but you can excel in the arena too!
Before the release of the Burning Crusade expansion, healing was more or less mandatory for any paladin wanting to see end-game content. Luckily, this has all changed and nowadays, paladins can excel as tanks as well, or in some cases even as damage dealers!

Regardless of which path you wish to pursue later on, you need to lay the groundwork first. Step one is of course to decide which side you wish to be on. The available races for the Alliance are Humans, Dwarves and the Draenei. For Horde, the choice is simple since Blood Elves are the only option.

The first few levels, I would advise you to simply focus on completing quests, while placing your talents in the Retribution tree. Items at this level do not really matter much and the journey is fairly straight-forward up until level 33-34, at which you should move your talents to the protection tree.

I’m sure some of you may have been surprised by this suggestion and I do not blame you. I too was sceptical at first, but I quickly changed my mind, once I had given it a try.

Leveling as a protection paladin is somewhat different from what you may be used to. Instead of taking on one enemy at a time, you will face them in groups of three, five or even more! The trick to be able to pull this off is to boost your AoE (Area of Effect) damage as much as possible, while keeping your stamina and intellect high. I would suggest using a 1-handed sword, and a shield enhanced with a Shield Spike.

The skills you will use a lot and should have hotkeys for are: Seal of Light, Retribution Aura, Righteous Fury, Blessing of Sanctuary. Add Holy Shield too, when you get it at level 40.

At level 34, one of the best places to gain experience is in the Murloc camps, found in the north-eastern part of Dustwallow March. They even go fetch new ones for you so be careful and make sure to use this to your advantage!

In the unlikely event of you ever getting bored of hearing “Mrggglhlghgmh”, you can continue over to Arathi Highlands, to kill either orcs at the farm or ogres in the south. In truth, there really are too many good places to list them all but in many areas, such as Badlands, Hillsbrad Foothills and Swamp of Sorrow, you can combine good grinding spots with quests to get excellent payoff for the time invested. Pirates, Ogres and Thistlerubs are all good targets in Tanaris, watch out for getting disarmed though!

At level 50 you can venture to the famous Sorrow Hill in the Western Plaguelands. This is one of my favourite spots, although it can be a bit crowded at times. The plaguelands are very good all the way to 60. Remember to use your anti-undead spells for added damage.

Reaching Outlands, reverting to Retribution is a viable option since there are so many quests to do. Personally, I chose to stay protection all the way to 70, just for the fun of it! If you take the time to get a reputation of Honored with the Sporeggar, you can buy this very desirable shield for only 15 Glowcap mushrooms.

Although there is room for moving a few talent points around, here is my prefered talent build at level 70.

For a more in-depth discussion of pieces of gear to use, I would suggest you to take a look at this thread.

This is all for now. I wish you the best of luck in your adventures!

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning – the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning – the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

As an avid MMORPG player, I have heard about Warhammer Online being released for a number of months until recently it was finally released. I purchased and downloaded the game directly online from Direct2Drive and got to playing.

The first thing I noticed was the excessive and completely unnecessary bombardment of introductory graphics amp; sounds. Having to go through three or four of these five-second company logo clips is extremely irritating, especially in the midst of a conversation in Ventrilo or Teamspeak. Obviously this is expected since most companies want to boast about their creation but the addition of extraneous sound effects and low key music really makes starting up the game a minor annoyance.

Anyways, as we continue to venture into Warhammer Online it becomes quite evident why it was so highly anticipated. The game revolves around this “Realm vs. Realm” concept which was a huge success in Mythic’s previous game “Dark Age of Camelot”. This RvR concept is quite interesting and EAMythic has every right to flaunt it considering how exciting attacking or defending a keep can be. Of course there is a downside to this. A player will not be exposed to this RvR concept until level 40 and even then, if your character isn’t properly geared then you can expect to be repeatedly killed – But before I jump this far ahead I feel it is fair to discuss some of the early level experiences.

The first thing I noticed is how much Warhammer Online follows the typical MMORPG cliché. The first thing you will notice is the main stream method of leveling is (you guessed it) questing. The quests are exactly as expected, kill 8 of this mob, find 5 spoiled mushrooms, slay this boss mob, and so on. Nothing out of the ordinary but Mythic did implement something never really seen before.

Public Quests is an alternate route of leveling which also gives you area influence experience, which at the end can be turned in for some decent items. This is cool but a major flaw with this is the oversaturation of public quests in a giant zone. You will quite frequently find yourself in a situation where there aren’t enough public at one public quest due to so many other ones. Public quests though should not be misconstrued as a good source of experience. It generally isn’t, the experience is just a benefit from gaining Area Influence XP at the same time.

Well – You will find yourself doing these quests and public quests for all the way to 40. Along the way you can join scenarios which can be basically compared to World of Warcraft’s battlegrounds. Scenarios are a great source of experience and can be enjoyable if you know what you are doing. This was a major annoyance to me, the fact that I didn’t know what our team was supposed to be doing. The only hint you receive is a extremely vague popup message which goes something along the lines of “The Troll has been Pacified” or similar depending on the scenario you are in. With enough time I finally figured out the extremely strange game concept Mythic implemented for scenarios. It goes along the line of grabbing a central object and taking it to grounded artifacts.

Well I would love to continue to rant about the game but I personally feel that there isn’t enough to rant about since the entire game is pretty much revolves around the concept of what I mentioned above. I purposely left out hardware / computer specification issues because it wasn’t an issue for me – although a few of my friends did have problems with it which indirectly effected me. Regardless, I don’t recommend diving into this game anytime soon. It has lots of issues and inconsistencies which need to be addressed by EAMythic. I am sure it will be a great game in a few months from now, but in the mean time there is no rush to buy this game other than for the experience.
